Parliament resumes today after a two-month recess

Parliament will reconvene today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, following a two-month recess, to begin the Second Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
This comes after a formal summons was issued by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in accordance with Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, which requires that Members of Parliament (MPs) be duly notified of the resumption of sittings.
The Speaker’s directive ensures that all MPs are adequately informed and prepared to resume legislative duties.
As the House reconvenes, lawmakers are expected to deliberate on pressing national issues, scrutinise and pass legislation, and review reports from various parliamentary committees.
Key items on the agenda are likely to include matters of economic policy, governance reforms, and sectoral updates from the Executive, as MPs return to the chamber to continue their oversight and law-making responsibilities.
