President Mahama swears in new Council of State

Members of the Counvil of State
President John Dramani Mahama has officially sworn in former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, former Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho, and 30 other distinguished individuals as members of the Council of State.
The swearing-in ceremony, held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Jubilee House, marks a crucial step in Ghana’s governance, as the Council is tasked with advising and supporting the President on key national matters.
Former Speaker Edward Doe Adjaho will chair the council, bringing his extensive parliamentary experience to the advisory body.
The 31-member team comprises professionals from diverse fields, including law, academia, business, and civil society, ensuring a well-rounded group to guide government decisions.
As a constitutionally mandated body, the Council of State plays a critical role in strengthening governance, promoting transparency, accountability, and national development.
