UPDN petitions John Mahama over murder of Ahmed Suale
Ahead of the sixth anniversary of the horrific murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, the United Press for Development Network (UPDN) is drawing the attention of the public to its official petition to President John Dramani Mahama.
On January 16, 2019, unidentified gunmen savagely murdered Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an undercover investigative journalist with Anas Aremeyaw Anas' Tiger PI, close to his home in Madina, Accra.
Justice for Ahmed continues to evade his family, colleagues and the people of Ghana as this gruesome crime remains a mystery.
The UPDN, a leading advocate for press freedom and justice, is dedicated to upholding the values of accountability and human rights.
The organization believes Thursday, January 16, 2025, marking six years since this horrendous act, is a saddening reminder of the need to review the case with renewed zeal and dedication.
This petition was signed by Rev. Kofi Asante Mensah, President of the UPDN, and delivered to the office of the President on Wednesday, 15th January 2025.
Ahmed Hussein-Suale remains a motivation to many due to his unchanging commitment to uncovering corruption and gaining the public interest through investigative journalism.
His legacy must be a clear call to action for journalists to have stronger protection.
The UPDN calls on all good-hearted Ghanaians, the press, and Civil Society Organizations to stand with them in calling for accountability and justice for Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
