Women in the Agortime Ziope District of the Volta Region have expressed their disappointment and frustration over the failure to appoint Madam Vicentia Sename Leyo as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.

According to the women, the decision represents a missed opportunity for inclusive governance, gender equity, and the empowerment of women within the district.

They believe that appointing a woman as DCE would have signaled a commitment to promoting female leadership at the local level.

Speaking on behalf of the women, Miss Mary Deladem, spokesperson for the market women, lamented that despite their substantial contributions to the district's development through socio-economic and community-based initiatives, women continue to be overlooked when it comes to leadership roles.

She noted that women in the district have been at the forefront of agriculture, trade, education, and community service, yet they still face systemic barriers to leadership and decision-making positions.

The women are, therefore, appealing to the president to address their concerns by reconsidering Madam Vicentia Leyo Sename for the ongoing DCE appointments.

They look forward to a future where the district embraces gender-inclusive leadership that truly reflects the aspirations of all its people.
