Bawumia congratulates UDS on historic World University Football Championship victory

Former Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has congratulated the University for Development Studies (UDS) for emerging champions of the 2025 World University Football Championship.
The Tamale-based university achieved the feat on Sunday, November 28, bringing international recognition to Ghana and Africa.
In a message shared on his social media platforms, Dr Bawumia described the victory as “a truly historic feat that has brought pride to Ghana and Africa.”
He lauded the dedication and resilience of the team, emphasising that their triumph was a testament to Ghanaian talent and determination on the global stage.
The former Vice President also noted that UDS’s achievement would serve as an inspiration for other Ghanaian universities to invest in sports and nurture young talents.
According to him, the victory highlights the potential of Ghanaian youth to excel not only in academics but also in global sporting competitions.
UDS’s triumph marks Ghana’s first-ever win at the World University Football Championship, positioning the university and the country prominently in international university sports.
The win has been widely celebrated across social media, with many Ghanaians and Africans commending the team for making history.
