The Ghana Football Association has teamed up with the Ghana Police Service to construct a modern football pitch at the Police Depot School in Tesano, Accra, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots football and creating more opportunities for young players.

The project was endorsed after the FA’s January Executive Council meeting, which brought together all 10 Regional Football Association chairmen. At the meeting, improving infrastructure at the Colts and community levels was identified as a major focus under the association’s Power to the Youth agenda.

Funding for the new pitch will come from prize money Ghana earned through participation in the African Inter-Schools Football Championship, as part of the FA’s plan to reinvest competition proceeds into long-term development.

Once completed, the school grounds will be upgraded into a multi-purpose football venue to benefit both students and residents in the Tesano area.

The facility is expected to support structured training, organised matches and talent discovery, while providing a safer and better-quality playing surface for young footballers.

The initiative follows earlier talks between GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Director-General Lydia Donkor in August 2025 on collaboration between football authorities and security agencies to promote youth development and community engagement.

The Tesano project is one of several steps approved by the Executive Council to reinforce the foundations of football nationwide through infrastructure upgrades and strategic partnerships.
