97% profit growth cements Ghana Gas' role in energy security — Jinapor
The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has commended the Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas) for its outstanding operational and financial performance, describing the Company as a key pillar in Ghana's energy security and industrial development agenda.
The minister made the remarks during the 8th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Ghana Gas, held at the Palms by Eagles Conference Room. The meeting brought together shareholders to consider and approve the Company's 2025 Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Jinapor noted that Ghana Gas recorded significant achievements during the period under review, including an increase in gas processing volumes from 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) to 130 MMscfd, higher Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production, and an impressive 97 percent growth in net profit.
According to the him, these remarkable results underscore the Company's strategic importance in advancing the Government's Gas-to-Power agenda and ensuring a reliable supply of natural gas to support electricity generation and other critical sectors of the economy.
"Ghana Gas delivered strong results, recording growth in gas processing and LPG production, alongside an impressive 97 percent increase in net profit. These achievements reaffirm the Company's vital role in strengthening Ghana's energy security and supporting the Government's Gas-to-Power agenda," he stated.
While applauding the company's achievements, the minister urged Ghana Gas to sustain the momentum by enhancing operational reliability, expanding critical gas infrastructure, and pursuing strategic and sustainable investments to meet Ghana's growing energy demands.
He stressed that a resilient and efficient energy sector remains fundamental to accelerating industrialisation, creating employment opportunities, and driving sustainable national development.
Dr Jinapor further assured the Board, Management, and it shareholder of the Ministry's continued support, reaffirming its commitment to working closely with Ghana Gas to strengthen the Company's capacity and position it as a leading force in Ghana's energy transition.
The minister also commended the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition for its continuous oversight of State-Owned Enterprises, noting that such supervision contributes significantly to improved corporate governance and accountability across the public sector.
Presenting the Independent Auditor's Report, KPMG, the Company's external auditors, highlighted Ghana Gas' strong financial performance, particularly its success in reducing operational costs, improving efficiency, and maintaining sound financial management practices.
The 8th Annual General Meeting provided an important platform for shareholders and stakeholders to review Ghana Gas' operational and financial performance, assess the Company's strategic direction, and reaffirm its commitment to delivering sustainable value while supporting Ghana's energy security and socio-economic development.
