The Grant Management Committee for the Adwumawura Programme under the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) has commenced its selection process at Ho in the Volta Region, with a target of identifying at least 2,000 viable youth-owned businesses to receive financial or input-based grants.

The exercise follows the recent inauguration of the committee by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, as part of the government’s broader efforts to support youth entrepreneurship and job creation across the country.

The committee has been tasked with applying a comprehensive grantee selection framework to assess and shortlist businesses with strong growth potential and sustainability prospects.

Membership of the committee cuts across key institutions within Ghana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, including representatives from the British Council, the University of Ghana Business School Innovation Hub, the Venture Capital Trust Fund, ABSA Bank, seasoned entrepreneurs, the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, the Ministry of Finance, the Board of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), and other stakeholders.

The Chief Executive Officer of NEIP, Mr Eric Adjei, says the focus is on selecting scalable businesses capable of generating employment, with each beneficiary enterprise expected to create at least two sustainable and decent jobs.

According to the CEO, the Adwumawura Programme forms part of ongoing initiatives aimed at empowering young people with the resources and support needed to build resilient businesses and contribute meaningfully to national economic growth.
