GIPC CEO Visits Kane-EM Industries to strengthen support for local manufacturing
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr Simon Madjie, has paid a working visit to Kane-EM Industries Limited in Tema as part of efforts to deepen government engagement with local manufacturers and address operational challenges confronting the sector.
The visit forms part of GIPC’s broader strategy to work closely with industry players to promote industrial expansion, improve competitiveness, and drive sustainable growth within Ghana’s manufacturing space.
Hosted by the company’s Director, Mr Sunil G. Wadhwani, Mr Madjie toured Kane-EM’s production facilities, inspecting its closure, injection, and preform production lines, as well as other key manufacturing processes.
Management of the company highlighted its steady growth since relocating operations from Accra to Tema in 2016, noting that nearly US$15 million has been invested in capital expenditure over the past decade, with an additional US$8 million currently committed to ongoing projects.
Mr Wadhwani underscored Kane-EM’s critical role in the local and regional supply chain, explaining that the company manufactures closures and performs services that support multiple brands across the beverage and packaging industries.
He estimated that these operations indirectly sustain about 15,000 downstream jobs.
He further disclosed that the Tema facility now contributes approximately 70 percent of the company’s total output, with plans underway to consolidate operations across adjoining properties to improve efficiency and enhance service delivery.
The engagement reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting domestic industries as key drivers of job creation, value addition, and economic transformation.
