The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has extended the deadline for filing second-quarter Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Personal Income Tax (PIT) and May 2026 Value Added Tax (VAT), National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL) and Communications Service Tax (CST) returns following the recent heavy rains and flooding in Accra and surrounding areas.

In a statement, the GRA said the Commissioner-General approved the extension to support taxpayers affected by the disruptions caused by the flooding.

Under the tax calendar, the returns were originally due on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. The new filing deadline is Monday, 6 July 2026.

According to the Authority, taxpayers who submit their returns by the extended deadline will not incur late filing penalties for the affected filing period. However, the GRA said normal penalties will apply to returns filed after 6 July.

The Authority encouraged taxpayers to use the Taxpayer's Portal and other digital platforms to submit their returns to reduce travel and avoid delays.

It also advised taxpayers facing significant operational difficulties as a result of the flooding to contact their nearest GRA Taxpayer Service Centre (TSC) or tax office for assistance.

The GRA described the extension as a targeted relief measure to help affected taxpayers meet their obligations without incurring immediate penalties.

It added that it remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted tax administration while supporting businesses during the period and safeguarding revenue for national development.
