Ghana receives 2,000 tons of Fertilisers from Morocco to boost agriculture

The Government of Ghana has received a major agricultural boost following the donation of 2,000 tons of fertilisers from the Kingdom of Morocco.
The symbolic handover took place early Monday, July 28, 2025, with Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs,Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), and the Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Imane Ouaadil, jointly presenting the consignment to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
The donation forms part of deepening bilateral cooperation between Ghana and Morocco, particularly in the area of sustainable agriculture and food security.
The support was secured during Mr Ablakwa’s recent official visit to Morocco, where both nations reaffirmed their commitment to agricultural development as a critical pillar of their partnership.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ablakwa expressed appreciation to the Moroccan government for the generous contribution, noting that the fertilisers would significantly support farmers and enhance crop production across the country.
“The Kingdom of Morocco has once again demonstrated true friendship and solidarity.
This donation will go a long way in supporting Ghana’s efforts to improve agricultural productivity and ensure food security,” he said.
Ambassador Ouaadil reiterated her country’s commitment to strengthening ties with Ghana, particularly in sectors that promote sustainable development and economic resilience.
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture is expected to distribute the fertiliser to key farming communities as part of ongoing interventions to boost yields and support national food security targets.
