Private jet terminal shut down: We don't owe GACL-McDan
McDan Aviation has expressed disappointment with the Ghana Airports Company Limited’s (GACL) decision to deny the company access to its private jet terminal, describing the move as unwarranted and based on misinformation.
In a statement, the CEO of McDan Group, Kwaku Ampromfi, denied allegations that the company owed GACL $3 million for the operation and use of the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) terminal.
“It is pertinent to note that McDan Aviation does not owe GACL $3,000,000.00 on the terminal, as erroneously reported,” Mr. Ampromfi stated, adding that the company already made significant payments, including a recent instalment last week, with plans to resume further payments in January 2025.
McDan Aviation also clarified an ongoing legal dispute involving a parcel of land acquired from GACL on Spintex Road.
The company explained that a third-party litigation issue has resulted in court proceedings, during which payments have been temporarily suspended.
“GACL is aware of this situation, and we have communicated that payments will remain on hold until the court case is fully resolved,” Mr. Ampromfi emphasized.
The company criticized GACL for conflating unrelated issues and adopting what it described as a harsh stance, despite ongoing discussions aimed at resolving the matter.
“Regrettably, GACL has chosen to take this line of action, particularly when the matters at hand are not interconnected,” the statement read.
Despite its disappointment, McDan Aviation reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the issue amicably.
The company emphasized its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue with GACL to achieve a favourable outcome.
