Legendary Ghanaian musician Amakye Dede was involved in a serious accident early Sunday morning between Apam and Winneba in the Central Region.

According to his management, the accident occurred at approximately 1:50 am as he and his crew were travelling to Agona Swedru after performing at the Takoradi City Mall.

Amakye Dede and his team were rushed to the Winneba Hospital, where they received medical attention from 2:00 am to 6:00 am.

In a statement, his management assured fans that the highlife legend is on the path to recovery but will require a few days of rest to fully recuperate.

“We are grateful to Ghanaians for their prayers and support during this difficult time.

Amakye Dede is in good spirits and responding well to treatment,” the statement read.

The management also apologized for the inconvenience caused by his inability to fulfil scheduled performances, particularly in Kumasi.

“We deeply regret any disappointment caused to fans and event organizers.

We appreciate your understanding and will keep you updated on his recovery,” they added.
