After weeks of controversy following his sharp criticism of the court ruling in the late musician Daddy Lumba’s widowhood dispute, Bishop Yaw Owusu-Ansah has publicly apologised to the judge who presided over the case — and to his fans. 

In his apology, Bishop Yaw Owusu-Ansah said he realised his earlier words — delivered on air at Adom FM — were inappropriate.

He expressed regret for the tone and language he used, acknowledging that his comments may have offended the court and the public. 

He specifically apologised to Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur, the judge who presided over the case.

The apology appears to mark a retreat from his previous threats and warnings, in which he had accused her of “bending the law of God” by allowing both women associated with Daddy Lumba to perform widowhood rites.

For context: in the November 28, 2025, ruling by the Kumasi High Court, Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur declared that both Lumba’s legal wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, and his partner, Odo Broni (also known as Priscilla Ofori), are surviving spouses entitled to perform widowhood rites.

The verdict triggered outrage among some religious and traditionalist quarters. 

In his public apology, Bishop Owusu-Ansah also extended regret to his followers and the general public — asking for forgiveness, and admitting that he misjudged the impact of his remarks.
