Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in charge of Marketing and Special Duties, Gilbert Abeiku ‘Santana’ Aggrey, has petitioned the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts over recurring challenges in securing timely access to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Authority for official consultations.

In a letter dated 22nd October, 2026, Abeiku Santana said the difficulty in accessing the CEO has affected urgent operational matters relating to his responsibilities in domestic tourism, special events and marketing.

According to the letter, addressed to the sector Minister and copied to the Chief Director of the Ministry, the Board Chairperson of GTA and the CEO herself, the Deputy CEO has had to request meetings on several occasions through the CEO's secretary or personal assistant but to no avail.

"While I appreciate the demands on her schedule, this has made it difficult to obtain timely guidance, approvals, and decisions needed to carry out my duties effectively. This situation sometimes causes delays in operations, stakeholder engagements, and the implementation of key assignments," the letter stated.

Abeiku Santana stressed his intention is not to make a personal complaint but to highlight a communication gap that needs to be addressed for effective management and institutional efficiency.

“I therefore respectfully seek your intervention, with the knowledge of the Board Chairperson, to help establish a more effective communication and consultation arrangement between the CEO and my office, especially on urgent official matters."

He added: “I remain committed to working professionally with the CEO and the entire management team to achieve the Ministry's objectives and strengthen the performance of the Ghana Tourism Authority."

The GTA operates under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and is a member of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
