The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has expressed sympathy to people affected by the recent floods, calling on the public to remain vigilant and support ongoing relief efforts.

In a statement, the union said it mourns those who lost their lives and stands in solidarity with families and communities affected by displacement, injuries and property damage.

The appeal follows flooding in parts of Accra and other areas after heavy rains, which displaced residents and damaged homes and property.

MUSIGA also highlighted concerns over poor drainage, indiscriminate waste disposal and the city's vulnerability to flooding during the rainy season.

The union commended the efforts of neighbours, volunteers and artists who have supported affected communities.

"We call on members of the public to continue supporting relief efforts by offering shelter, resources and accurate information to those in need," the statement said.

MUSIGA urged the public to follow official weather advisories, avoid flood-prone areas, move valuables to higher ground and report blocked drains or other hazards to local authorities.

It also encouraged communities to keep drains clear and dispose of waste properly to help reduce the risk of flooding.

The union said members and partners wishing to support relief efforts could contact its regional offices to coordinate assistance.
