A/R: 9 miners trapped in Konongo pit collapse
Nine miners remain trapped underground following the collapse of a mining pit on Wednesday evening at Konongo, located in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred while the miners were working underground, with the caved-in debris blocking their exit route. Local rescue teams and fellow miners are conducting operations at the site to reach the trapped individuals.
As of the time of this report, no rescues have been made.
Lanbon Joseph, the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), confirmed the details of the incident.
