Adamus Resources denies involvement in fatal shooting at Salman
Adamus Resources Limited has denied reports alleging that one of its security officers shot and killed a person suspected of engaging in illegal mining activities within the company's concession area at Salman in the Nzema East District.
In a statement issued on June 16, the company described the allegations as false and said there is no evidence linking either the company or its security personnel to the reported incident.
According to Adamus Resources, its security personnel do not carry firearms in the course of their duties, making claims that a company security officer carried out the shooting inconsistent with its operational protocols.
The company said information available to it indicates that the incident occurred after individuals suspected of engaging in illegal mining activities were spotted within the concession area.
It stated that reports suggest the individuals fled after noticing a NAIMOS patrol team in the area, and that one person sustained fatal injuries during the ensuing events.
Adamus Resources maintained that there is currently no credible evidence connecting the company or any member of its security team to the death.
The company expressed concern about what it described as speculative reports attributing responsibility before investigations have been concluded, arguing that such claims could undermine ongoing inquiries and damage reputations.
It called on the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Adamus Resources also said it is prepared to cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities in any investigation aimed at establishing the facts.
The company further urged the media and the public to avoid circulating unverified information while investigations continue.
Adamus Resources extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and expressed hope that the investigation would establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
