Alhaji Seidu Agongo donates food to flood victims, urges Ghanaians to support each other
Businessman and philanthropist Alhaji Seidu Agongo has donated food items and other essentials to families affected by the June 29 floods in the Alajo and Nima communities, urging Ghanaians to support one another during difficult times.
The items presented included bags of rice, tins of tomato paste, milk, clothing and other relief supplies.
Speaking after the presentation, Alhaji Agongo said the donation followed appeals from the Members of Parliament for the two constituencies, Abdul Rauf Tongym Tubazu and Baba Jamal, who drew his attention to the plight of residents affected by the floods.
He explained that the MPs informed him that many families had lost food, personal belongings and places to sleep after the floods struck while people were in their homes.
According to him, he immediately arranged for the relief items, which were delivered within three days.
Alhaji Agongo said the donation was intended to demonstrate the importance of supporting one another, stressing that no one can succeed in isolation.
He encouraged Ghanaians to extend a helping hand to those in need, saying progress as a society depends on showing care and compassion to others.
He added that the food items would provide temporary relief for affected families, including mothers, fathers and children, while they work towards rebuilding their lives.
The philanthropist also appealed to the public, particularly young people, to show empathy towards victims rather than assigning blame.
He urged Ghanaians to recognise that anyone can experience hardship and called for collective efforts to help those facing challenges.
The donation forms part of ongoing relief efforts to support communities affected by the devastating June 29 floods in parts of the country.
