The Anti-Corruption Coalition has launched an initiative to strengthen the capacity of journalists in Ghana to promote accountability and good governance. The coalition is working to equip journalists with a deeper understanding of the anti-corruption agenda, enabling them to produce more analytical pieces that hold public officers accountable.

Speaking at the engagement, Samuel Harrison, Programs Officer of the Anti-Corruption Coalition, emphasized the importance of journalists in the fight against corruption. He noted that some of the biggest anti-corruption breakthroughs in Ghana have come from exposes done by journalists, highlighting the critical role they play in promoting transparency and accountability.

The coalition is looking for increased public accountability and corruption stories, more analytical pieces, and closer collaboration between journalists and civil society. To support journalists, the coalition is providing access to platforms like the Advocacy and Legal Advice Center, which offers legal support and advice to help them address challenges they face in reporting.

The initiative is part of the Anti-Corruption Institute for Enhancing Governance and Accountability in Ghana, a project aimed at promoting good governance and accountability. The coalition believes that journalists have a critical role to play in this effort and is committed to working with them to build their capacity and provide the necessary support.

The engagement is expected to mark a new era in the fight against corruption in Ghana, with journalists playing a more impactful role in holding public officers accountable. The coalition is optimistic that the initiative will lead to more analytical reporting, increased transparency, and improved governance in the country.
