Ashanti Police arrest five over robbery and murder in Kumasi
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has made significant breakthroughs in combating crime, arresting five suspects in connection with robbery and murder incidents in Kumasi.
Two suspects, Farouk Iddris, 20, and Salim Mohammed, 19, were arrested for the robbery and murder of 28-year-old Silva Ngozi at Asokore Mampong on December 6, 2025.
At a press conference today, Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, said the suspects allegedly stabbed Ngozi with a knife during the robbery, resulting in her death.
A machete, knives, and other offensive weapons were retrieved from one of the suspects' hideouts, and an iPhone 11 Pro belonging to the deceased was recovered.
In a related development, three other suspects, Abdul Fatawu, 22, Philip Nyarko, 24, and Samak Hadi, 21, were arrested for a string of armed robberies across Kumasi.
The police recovered 59 iPhones, six Android phones, four tablets, and five laptops from their hideouts.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations and will be put before court soon.
He assured the public of command's commitment to maintaining peace and order in the region and urged residents to provide information to help combat crime.
