CLOGSAG threatens nationwide strike over unimplemented salary structure
The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced plans to launch a nationwide strike starting March 9, 2026, if the government fails to implement a unique salary structure and other agreed Conditions of Service for civil and local government employees.
The decision was taken by the Association’s National Executive Council (NEC) following a review of the stalled negotiations, which began in 2019 and resulted in the signing of two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the government.
Speaking on behalf of CLOGSAG, Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo said that despite repeated reminders to the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, there has been no engagement or response from the government.
He added that the Association feels “taken for granted” and is pressing for the full implementation of the agreed terms to improve the welfare and working conditions of its members.
The planned strike underscores growing frustration among civil and local government staff over delayed reforms in remuneration and service conditions, raising concerns about potential disruptions in public service delivery if negotiations are not resumed promptly, he stressed.
