The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) will soon deploy selected staff to five countries across Europe and North America to facilitate driver licensing services for Ghanaians living abroad.

DVLA Chief Executive Officer Julius Neequaye Kotey made the announcement during the commissioning of a new DVLA office at Bantama in the Ashanti Region.

He revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved the posting of personnel to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands.

“Some of you, the DVLA staff, you are travelling overseas to go and provide services in five countries outside. We have gotten approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for them to travel and do this for Ghanaians staying abroad. They don’t need to come down to renew their one-year license which has expired. We will provide all licensing services for them,” he said.

Mr Kotey also addressed DVLA staff about internal transfers, urging them to view them as opportunities rather than punitive measures.

“Transfer is not punishment. It is just to tell you that your services are need somewhere else and we need you to be there for efficiency and effective running of that office. Surely, more transfers will be coming on board. Stay by your table. When you get it, you look at the date, you pack your things and you go,” he explained.

The move aims to improve service delivery and accessibility for Ghanaians abroad, while ensuring that domestic operations continue to benefit from skilled personnel deployed where they are most needed.
