Deputy Agric Minister pushes for agric internships for Ghanaian students
The Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mr John Dumelo, was part of Ghana’s delegation to the 3rd Israel–Ghana Political Dialogue held in Jerusalem, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Ghanaian delegation was led by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Gyakye Quayson.
At the same time, the dialogue was co-chaired with H.E. Sharren Haskel, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel.
The high-level engagement provided a platform for discussions on issues of mutual interest, including diplomatic cooperation, security, agriculture, and capacity-building initiatives.
During the dialogue, Mr Dumelo made a strong case for Ghana, particularly advocating for the reintroduction of internship opportunities for Ghanaian agriculture students in Israel.
He noted that such programmes would enhance practical skills, expose students to advanced agricultural technologies and contribute to improved productivity in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
According to him, international internship opportunities remain critical to building a skilled workforce capable of supporting Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda.
The Political Dialogue forms part of ongoing efforts by Ghana and Israel to deepen bilateral cooperation and explore practical avenues for collaboration in key sectors that support national development.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening relations and expanding cooperation in areas that promote sustainable growth and knowledge exchange.
