Final funeral arrangements announced for former Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah
The family of the late Dr. (Med.) Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, former Minister of Defence, has formally announced the arrangements for his final funeral, scheduled to take place in Koforidua from December 13 to 14, 2025.
Dr. Omane Boamah, who passed away on August 6, 2025, at the age of 49, will be honoured with a series of rites led by his family, widow, children, and the Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra, together with the St. George Catholic Cathedral in Koforidua.
The main funeral rites will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Jackson’s Park at Koforidua in the Eastern Region, from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
The ceremony is expected to draw dignitaries, political figures, colleagues, and sympathisers from across the country who wish to pay their final respects.
A thanksgiving service will take place the following day, Sunday, December 14, 2025, at St. George Catholic Cathedral, Koforidua, at 9 a.m.
The final funeral rites will also be held later that same day at Jackson’s Park, marking the culmination of the ceremonies honouring the life and service of the former minister.
Dr. Omane Boamah is remembered for his contributions to Ghana’s security sector and his years of public service.
