Fuel prices are expected to increase from September 1, 2026, according to the latest outlook from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC).

COMAC projects that petrol could sell at about GH¢16.39 per litre, representing a 4.80% increase.

Diesel is projected to rise by 2.10% to about GH¢17.60 per litre.

LPG, however, is expected to fall by 0.93%, with the projected price at GH¢13.73 per kilogramme. 

COMAC attributed the expected increases to higher crude oil prices and increases in the prices of refined petroleum products on the international market.

Average crude oil prices rose by 1.75%, from US$90.53 to US$92.11 per barrel.

Petrol prices on the international market increased by 8.86%, while diesel and LPG rose by 5.51% and 3.31%respectively. 

The cedi, however, appreciated by 3.64% against the US dollar between August 12 and 27, helping to moderate the expected increases.

The government has also extended its GH¢2 per litre reduction in the regulatory margin on diesel into the first pricing window of September.

COMAC said more than 200 oil marketing companies operate in Ghana. Some are expected to adjust their prices from 6 a.m. on September 1, while others may wait and monitor competition before changing their pump prices.

The National Petroleum Authority has separately increased the price floor for the September 1–16 pricing window to GH¢14.53 for petrol and GH¢15.60 for diesel. LPG's price floor has been reduced to GH¢10.85 per kilogramme.
