Ghana conveys condolence to Venezuela over loss of lives in January 3 incident
Ghana has extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of Venezuela following the tragic loss of lives linked to the events of January 3, 2026, when explosions and conflict erupted in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas and other areas amid a major military intervention that resulted in numerous casualties.
On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Ghana, Nii Amasah Namoale,Ghana’s Ambassador to Brazil and accredited to Venezuela, conveyed President John Dramani Mahama’s sympathies to Venezuelan authorities.
The message emphasised Ghana’s solidarity with Venezuela during this difficult period and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the principles of sovereignty, international law, and peaceful coexistence among nations.
President Mahama’s condolences, delivered through Ambassador Namoale, stressed that Ghana’s thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and the Venezuelan people as they mourn and seek recovery from the unprecedented crisis that followed the January 3 military events.
The statement underscores the importance of international solidarity in moments of national tragedy and reflects Ghana’s supportive position toward efforts to uphold peace and stability in Venezuela and beyond.
