GoldBod CEO dismisses claims of incomplete financial disclosure to Auditor-General
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has dismissed allegations that the institution withheld financial information from the Auditor-General during the audit of its 2025 accounts.
His comments follow concerns raised by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin over GoldBod’s reported GH¢5.44 billion surplus, with the Minority questioning whether the Auditor-General had been given a complete picture of the institution’s financial activities.
But Mr Gyamfi insists the audit was conducted with full access to GoldBod’s records.
Speaking at the government’s accountability series on Wednesday, August 19, he said the Auditor-General’s team was given all documents requested during the exercise and that management responded to the issues raised in the audit process.
According to the Auditor-General’s report, GoldBod posted an operational surplus of GH¢909.7 million and an overall surplus of GH¢5.44 billion for the 2025 financial year.
Mr Gyamfi challenged anyone disputing the completeness of the audit to seek clarification directly from the Auditor-General.
He argued that the final report did not raise any adverse findings against GoldBod, including allegations of financial losses, procurement violations or breaches of the Public Financial Management Act.
The GoldBod CEO accused the Minority of attempting to cast doubt on the credibility of an independent state institution because its findings did not support their position.
He maintained that the Auditor-General’s conclusions should form the basis of any assessment of GoldBod’s financial performance rather than claims that were not contained in the official audit report.
Mr Gyamfi has therefore urged the public and the media to rely on the contents of the Auditor-General’s report in assessing GoldBod’s 2025 financial performance.
