Government moves to evacuate Ghanaians in Qatar over security concerns
The Embassy of Ghana in Qatar has announced plans to carry out an emergency evacuation for Ghanaian nationals residing in Qatar following rising security tensions in the region.
In a notice issued on March 15, 2026, the mission indicated that the decision was taken by the Government of Ghana after an earlier advisory released on March 6 concerning the changing security environment.
The embassy explained that the evacuation arrangement will be a one-way relocation from Qatar to Ghana.
Ghanaians who wish to return home under the arrangement have been asked to confirm their interest by emailing copies of the biodata pages of their passports.
Applicants are required to submit the information to doha@mfa.gov.gh no later than Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
The mission noted that the initiative is purely precautionary and forms part of measures to safeguard Ghanaian citizens in light of the worsening security situation in parts of the Middle East.
The announcement follows increasing concern over regional security developments, which have led several countries to reassess emergency plans for their nationals living abroad.
