The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has reiterated the Ministry’s willingness to arrange treatment outside Ghana for Sandra Baafi Boateng a victim of the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise stampede if her medical team determines that she requires advanced specialist care abroad.

Addressing Parliament the Minister briefed Members on her current condition and reaffirmed government’s commitment to seeing her through a full recovery.

He explained that Sandra Baafi Boateng sustained life-threatening injuries during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment stampede on November 12, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Following the incident, she was admitted for intensive treatment under specialist care, with the state absorbing all related medical costs to spare her family any financial hardship.

The Minister further disclosed that on February 26, 2026, she was moved to the 37 Military Hospital for continued treatment. There, she is being managed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists and is also undergoing rehabilitation alongside psychosocial support aimed at enhancing her recuperation.

Mr. Akandoh stressed that authorities are assessing every viable medical intervention, both within Ghana and overseas, to guarantee the highest standard of care. He added that since the incident during the 2025/2026 enlistment exercise, Ms Baafi Boateng has remained confined to her bed.
