Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has been granted a bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties after appearing before the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The lawyer, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, presented himself to the EOCO but was later detained to assist investigations into his alleged involvement in financial malfeasance and money laundering.
The allegations were disclosed by the Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, as he wrote on his Facebook wall that “Mr. Awuah’s imminent arrest is part of an inquiry by EOCO into a complaint of unauthorised financial transactions at SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Ltd, resulting in crimes of financial loss, dissipation of public funds, money laundering, among others".
The MP and lawyer had earlier had a confrontation with an EOCO female officer when she attempted to arrest him within court premises but it was foiled.
