Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza

More than 60 percent of traffic lights across Ghana are currently functioning properly, despite a persistent wave of component theft and vehicular damage, Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza has revealed.

Addressing Parliament, the minister raised serious concerns over the growing trend of vandalism targeting critical road infrastructure. Highlighting the audacity of the perpetrators, Agbodza disclosed that even the traffic lights located directly in front of the Police Headquarters in Accra have been targeted and compromised.

According to the minister, the widespread malfunctioning of the remaining traffic signal systems is primarily driven by deliberate theft of components and damage resulting from vehicle collisions.

Agbodza assured the House that despite these operational challenges, the Ministry is actively managing the situation to keep the majority of the country's traffic management systems up and running.
