The Ghana Police Service has directed owners and operators of concrete mixer trucks to keep the vehicles off roads in Accra and Tema from Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30, 2026.

The directive follows a meeting held on Thursday, August 27, between the Police, under the auspices of the National Security Secretariat, and owners and operators of transit mixer trucks.

The engagement, led by Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno, focused on road safety and compliance with traffic regulations.

Concerns were raised about concrete and other materials being spilled onto roads by the trucks. Stakeholders said the debris obstructs traffic, creates risks for road users and damages road surfaces.

Operators were urged to ensure that concrete and other materials are not discharged or left on roads during transportation and operations.

Under the temporary directive, concrete mixer trucks are prohibited from moving on roads within Accra and Tema during the three-day period.

The Police warned that vehicles found violating the directive would face enforcement action in accordance with the law.

The restriction is intended to allow for the clearing and cleaning of road surfaces affected by concrete and other materials.

Representatives of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Ghana Highways Authority, and owners and operators of concrete mixer trucks attended the meeting.
