The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has taken note of allegations of extortion and related conduct made by Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) Chief Executive Sammy Gyamfi against Minority Leader in Parliament Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

In a statement dated August 24, 2026, the OSP said it had also received a joint petition from two persons, as well as two separate petitions from other individuals, concerning the allegations.

The anti-corruption agency said it would assess the matter to determine whether it falls within its statutory mandate.

The OSP will also determine whether the allegations warrant further investigative action.

“Given the nature of the allegations, the OSP will assess the case and determine whether it falls within its statutory mandate and whether further investigative action is warranted.”
