The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has introduced an online bookshop to enable Ghanaians to purchase official government publications without having to travel to Accra.

The platform allows individuals and institutions to order copies of Acts of Parliament, the 1992 Constitution and other publications directly from the state-owned company and have them delivered to their preferred locations.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Monday, October 19, 2026, GPCL Managing Director, Nana Kwasi Boatey, Esq., said the initiative was intended to make Ghana’s legal documents more accessible to the public.

He noted that obtaining official publications had been challenging for people living outside the capital, many of whom had to travel to Accra to buy the documents.

In some instances, he said, the cost of transportation exceeded the price of the publications they intended to purchase.

Mr Boatey also pointed to the company’s limited physical presence across the country as a factor contributing to the unauthorised reproduction and sale of Acts of Parliament.

He said the new platform would provide a more convenient channel for the public to obtain authentic government publications from an authorised source.

To use the service, customers can visit GPCL’s website, choose their preferred publications, place an order and arrange delivery to their selected locations.

The online shop offers publications available at the company’s Business Centre, including Acts of Parliament and copies of the Constitution.

According to Mr Boatey, the initiative also responds to public calls for easier access to the company’s products and services.

He disclosed that GPCL was exploring ways to improve electronic access to its publications as part of broader efforts to modernise its operations.

The introduction of the online bookshop is expected to ease the financial and logistical burden on customers, especially those in communities far from Accra, while providing a more direct route to obtaining official government documents.

The move forms part of the company’s drive to leverage digital technology to extend its reach and improve public access to government publications nationwide.
