Businessman and philanthropist, John Paul Semavor, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volta Peak Cabins, has filed to contest the NDC Volta Regional Deputy Secretary position, pledging to bridge the gap between the party’s grassroots and regional leadership.

Mr. Semavor said his decision to contest the position was informed by his extensive experience in business, office administration and organisational management, which he believes would help strengthen the party’s structures across the region.

According to him, the Deputy Regional Secretary position requires a person with a strong understanding of party structures, bookkeeping, office work and business management to ensure the effective administration of the party.

“I have an entrepreneurial background, coming from my business field. I own a hospitality business and I have run several businesses. I feel this is the right time for me to pick up the mantle to become the Deputy Regional Secretary of the NDC for the Volta Region,” he said.

Mr. Semavor further said his campaign would focus particularly on the grassroots, stressing that his primary objective was to create a direct channel through which party members could communicate their concerns to the regional leadership.

He added that his engagements with members across all 18 constituencies have revealed a common concern about limited access to party leadership, especially when members have challenges requiring urgent attention.

“Most of the things that my people tell me is that we need access to our people. When we have concerns, we want them to be addressed quickly,” he said.

He pledged to establish a system that would allow party members at the constituency and branch levels to reach him directly with their concerns, assuring them that their grievances would receive timely attention.

“I want to tell them that I am for them. I am for the grassroots. I am coming here to create an avenue for them. If they need someone to listen to, I have come to bridge that gap,” he stated.

He added that his vision is not limited to addressing challenges at the constituency level but will extend to the branches where majority of party members operate.

“If there are any challenges in the constituency, down to the branch level, they should be assured that there is somebody up there who is ready to listen to them, listen to them on time and make sure all their grievances, concerns and problems are addressed on time,” he said.

Mr. Semavor, who described himself as a businessman and philanthropist, said he would bring his wealth of experience in entrepreneurship and organisational management to bear working for the NDC in the Volta Region.

He expressed confidence that his experience, coupled with his commitment to the grassroots, would enable him to contribute meaningfully to the effective coordination and administration of the party if elected.

Mr. Semavor, after his final vetting yesterday, picked number 4 on the ballot, describing it as the best chance to winning the election to serve his region and the party.

He expressed gratitude to the vetting committee and his followers.
