Roads Minister updates Parliament on stalled key projects, assures contractors will return to site
Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has provided an update on major road projects in Konongo, Awaso and parts of the Northern Region, acknowledging that payment challenges have slowed progress on some of the works.
According to the Minister, delays in payments to contractors have affected the pace of construction on several road projects across the country, including those in the affected areas.
Despite the challenges, Mr. Agbodza assured that the government is taking steps to address the situation and ensure that contractors return to the site to continue the works.
He gave the updates while briefing Parliament on Wednesday.
He explained that efforts are underway to mobilise the necessary resources to settle outstanding payments and revive stalled projects, stressing that the government remains committed to improving road infrastructure to support economic activities and ease transportation for residents.
The Roads and Highways Minister noted that the affected projects are important to enhancing connectivity between communities and boosting trade and development in the beneficiary areas.
He expressed optimism that once the payment issues are resolved, contractors will resume work to ensure the timely completion of the projects.
