The Member of Parliament for Damango, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to prioritise youth unemployment and the rising cost of living in his upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Ahead of the address scheduled for tomorrow, the Damango lawmaker emphasised that unemployment and economic hardship remain the most pressing concerns for many young Ghanaians.

He noted that while discussions around macroeconomic stability and post-COVID-19 recovery efforts are important, the real impact of governance must be felt in the daily lives of citizens—particularly the youth.

According to him, unemployment continues to pose a significant threat to the future of Ghana’s young population, limiting opportunities and undermining their potential contributions to national development.

He stressed that many young people are eager to hear concrete measures the government intends to roll out to create sustainable jobs and ease financial pressures on households.

Hon. Abu Jinapor also acknowledged government efforts aimed at stabilising the economy and implementing recovery strategies in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, he maintained that greater attention must be paid to policies that directly reduce the cost of living and expand employment opportunities.

He further urged the President to outline practical and targeted interventions in the SONA that will address these challenges and restore hope among Ghana’s youth.
