Philanthropist and journalist, David Sitsofe Tamakloe has partnered with the Ketu South office of NADMO to donate relief items to 125 flood victims at Agbozume-Ahorkpoe in the Ketu South Municipality.

The donation, held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the AME Zion JHS School, was aimed at easing the hardship faced by families whose homes and livelihoods were affected by recent floods.

Mr Tamakloe, a native of Klikor-Kpordoave, said the intervention was made possible through support from private individuals, including Veronica Debrah, wife of Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, and other benevolent partners.

“This is my way of giving back to the community while complementing government’s efforts to provide relief to affected residents,” he said.

He assured the victims of his continued commitment to community development but urged residents to also play their part in preventing future floods.  

“Keep drains and waterways clean through communal labour. Floods may not always render people homeless, but they create conditions that lead to disease outbreaks,” he cautioned.

The Ketu South Municipal Director of NADMO, Ferguson Ahorlu, thanked Mr. Tamakloe and his team for their timely support.

He urged residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer places during the rainy season to protect lives and property.  

Mr. Ahorlu further disclosed that the Ketu South Municipal Assembly will soon begin demolishing structures built on waterways across the municipality as part of measures to reduce flooding.

Receiving the items on behalf of beneficiaries, Assembly Member for Ahorkpoe Electoral Area, Saviour Agbeko Awoye, thanked the donors and assured that the items would be distributed fairly.

He also reminded residents to take part in the community’s monthly communal labour, warning that sanctions will be applied to defaulters.

Some beneficiaries described the support as “timely” and promised to make good use of the items.

The package included 30 boxes of Kleesoft bar soap, 30 boxes of Athena bath soap, 30 sacks of powdered soap, 30 boxes of sanitary pads, 10 large packs of toilet rolls, 4 large packs of table tissue, 20 bags of rice, 10 boxes of cooking oil, 20 boxes of Indomie noodles, 10 packs of sachet water, 15 packs of long sachet water, and 30 packs of X-Cola.

In a statement on social media after the donation, Mr. Tamakloe said: “We feel your pain.”

He noted the support was meant to complement government relief and appealed to more individuals and organizations to help reach every affected community.

He announced that the relief exercise will continue in Blekusu, Klikor, Akame, Kpodzi and other communities in Aflao.
