A/R: Kumasi businessman remanded over alleged killing of girlfriend after domestic dispute
Police in Kumasi have arrested 48-year-old businessman Francis Arthur for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Sally Benson, in a suspected domestic violence incident at Ayigya-Maxima on April 14, 2026.
According to police, Sally, who is a well-known beautician and owner of Sally’s Cosmetics Studio and African’s Special Pub in Asokwa, went to Arthur’s residence with a female friend after receiving information that another woman had visited him.
Arthur was not home initially, but upon his return, Sally confronted him, leading to a heated argument.
Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare said Arthur allegedly assaulted Sally Benson repeatedly during the altercation until she collapsed.
He, thereafter, reportedly transported her in her own vehicle to KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Arthur appeared before Justice Hilda Esther Wryter at the Asokore Mampong District Court and was remanded into custody to reappear on May 8, 2026.
The victim’s father, Apostle Gabriel Oppong, expressed grief and called for justice, stating that his daughter collapsed after being beaten and was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead.
Sally Benson’s body has been deposited at the mortuary of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
