E/R: NAIMOS raids illegal mining site at COCOBOD Demonstration Farm in Bunso
A team from the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has conducted a major operation against illegal mining activities at the COCOBOD Demonstration Farm, Section E, at Bunso in the Eastern Region.
The raid, carried out on Thursday, January 8, 2026, uncovered eight excavators and 12 individuals engaged in illegal mining on the research farm.

According to NAIMOS, the site had previously been visited twice in an attempt to halt the activities, but the miners returned to the same location about a week later.
During the latest operation, the suspects were arrested and handed over to the Ghana Police Service (GPS) for further investigations and prosecution.
The excavators found at the site were seized and transported to the NAIMOS equipment base in Accra.
