Former Chief Executive Officer of the defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1, has submitted seven key documents as part of his defence in the ongoing criminal trial involving the collapsed gold dealership firm.

The documents were filed together with his witness statement as the trial enters a crucial stage at the Accra High Court. The materials reportedly include agreements between his company and the Government of Ghana, photographs of gold bars, and other documents he intends to rely on in his defence.

NAM1 is standing trial alongside Menzgold Ghana Limited and Brew Marketing Consult Ghana Limited on 39 charges, including selling gold without a licence, operating a deposit-taking business without a licence, inducing the public to invest, defrauding by false pretences, fraudulent breach of trust, and money laundering.

According to prosecutors, the accused persons allegedly defrauded more than 16,000 customers of an estimated GH¢340.8 million between 2016 and 2018 through an investment scheme linked to gold trading.

The court has granted NAM1 until Friday, July 17, 2026, to file any additional documents he intends to tender as evidence in support of his case.

The former Menzgold boss has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains on bail in the sum of GH¢500 million with four sureties.

The trial is expected to resume on July 17, when NAM1 will continue his evidence-in-chief before the court as proceedings in one of Ghana's most high-profile financial cases continue.
