The Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) has arrested seven suspects in connection with the theft of three unregistered Hyundai vehicles in the Eastern Region.

According to the police, the arrests followed a report received on May 25, 2026, regarding the theft of an unregistered blue Hyundai Elantra at Nkawkaw.

Following the complaint, the CVET launched a digital and intelligence-led operation which traced the stolen vehicle to a hideout at Roman Down, Asamankese.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) detachment in the area.

During the raid, officers arrested seven suspects and recovered two additional stolen vehicles believed to be connected to the syndicate.

The suspects have been identified as Acheampong Otuo Kofi, also known as “Levels,” 28; Kpachen Ebenezer, 26; Fianko Isaac, also known as “Yaw,” 35; Besah Elizabeth, 24; David Kudalor, 28; Enoch Acheampong, 38; and Solomon Odei, 35.

Police said all seven suspects are currently in custody assisting with ongoing investigations, while the three recovered vehicles have been impounded.

Authorities further disclosed that investigations are continuing as efforts intensify to retrieve more stolen vehicles that may be linked to the group’s operations.

The police have also appealed to the public to volunteer information on suspected car theft and car-jacking syndicates operating within their communities to support ongoing crime-fighting efforts.
