W/R: NAiMOS cracks down on armed impostors posing as anti-galamsey task force in Aowin
The National Anti-illegal Mining Operation Secretariate (NAIMOS) has successfully apprehended a group of armed individuals masquerading as members of an Anti-Galamsey Task Force in the Nyankamam-Armoyi forest of the Aowin Municipality, Western North Region.
The 10 suspects, who allegedly claimed connections with the Aowin Paramount Chief, were reportedly operating with impunity, extorting money from illegal miners and indirectly encouraging unlawful mining activities in the municipality.
The NAIMOS Taskforce confiscated the suspects’ weapons and talismans during the operation.
