Archbishop Adonteng Boateng calls for investment in AI education to secure Ghana’s future
Archbishop Dr Kofi Adonteng Boateng, the General Overseer of Divine Word International Ministries in Virginia, USA, has underscored the need for Ghana to invest heavily in modern education, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI), to prepare the next generation for global competitiveness.
Speaking at the “Dinner with the Stars” event organised by the Executive Senators International School (ESIS) in Kasoa Timber Market, Archbishop Boateng, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the school, emphasised that Ghana’s future hinges on education and technological innovation.
The event was held under the theme “Ghana’s Future is Education: Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow.”
Archbishop Boateng noted that education must evolve beyond traditional teaching to embrace emerging technologies that are shaping the global economy.
He cited countries such as Singapore, India and Japan as examples of nations that have achieved rapid development through heavy investment in education and technology.
“Governments should not only focus on providing education but must invest in modern technologies like Artificial Intelligence to equip Ghana’s youth for the future,” he stated.
He announced that starting in January, ESIS will introduce AI training programs for children, facilitated by experts from the United States.
The initiative, he explained, seeks to nurture a generation of technologically skilled young people capable of driving innovation and solving national challenges.
“By focusing on AI education, we are not just teaching our children how to use technology; we are empowering them to become creators and innovators who can lead Ghana’s transformation,” Archbishop Boateng added.
While acknowledging the need for government support, Dr Boateng stressed that private initiatives are crucial in transforming Ghana’s educational landscape.
“Education is the most powerful investment we can make in our children’s future. ESIS is dedicated to producing leaders who can think critically, innovate and make a meaningful impact in society,” he remarked.
The event brought together notable Ghanaian celebrities, including actress and television personality Nana Ama McBrown and gospel musician Christiana Love, who joined in celebrating the school’s achievements and shared their perspectives on education.
Speaking at the event, Nana Ama McBrown highlighted the vital role of parents in ensuring their children’s educational success.
She urged parents to be proactive and consistent in supporting their children’s learning journey.
“Parents must make sure their children attend school regularly. Education opens doors to opportunities, and with the right certificates and skills, young people can create their own paths rather than relying solely on government jobs,” McBrown advised.
