Government to introduce coding, AI, and electronics in Basic Schools under new 'Smart Start Curriculum'

Ghana’s Ministry of Education is set to introduce coding, artificial intelligence, and electronics into the basic school curriculum, covering kindergarten (KG) through junior high school (JHS).

Announced by sector minister Haruna Iddrisu, the "smart start curriculum" aims to strengthen STEM education while emphasizing ethical values and civic responsibility. 

The revised curriculum is slated for submission to the Cabinet and Parliament for approval following its development by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA).
