In a grand ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Monday, December 30, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo conferred national honours on distinguished individuals for their exceptional contributions to Ghana's development.

The event celebrated hard work, sacrifice, and dedication across diverse fields.

The ceremony, graced by dignitaries such as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, ministers of state, and other high-ranking officials, highlighted the vital roles played by individuals in nation-building.

Key Honorees

Among the awardees, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received the nation’s highest accolade, the Order of the Star of Ghana - Officer Award, for his outstanding public service.

In the second-highest category, the Order of the Volta - Companion Award, notable recipients included Ambassador Mercy Yvonne Debrah-Karikari for her service in diplomacy and Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu for his contribution to governance.

Several Members of Parliament, government appointees, and professionals were recognized for their service in politics, education, health, creative arts, and public administration.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, MP for Manhyia South and running mate to Dr. Bawumia in the recent elections, was honoured with the Order of the Volta - Officer Award for his dedication to public service.

Creative arts legends, including Kwaw Ansah, Daddy Lumba (Charles Kwadwo Fosu), Gyedu Blay Ambolley, and Juliet Asante, were celebrated for their significant contributions to Ghana’s cultural heritage.

In the media sector, JoyNews journalist Erastus Asare Donkor received the Order of the Volta (Membership) for his exemplary work in journalism..

President’s Message

President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating the achievements of individuals who contribute to Ghana's progress.

He noted that the honorees serve as an inspiration for future generations to work towards the nation’s development.

The event underscored the value of service and excellence, showcasing the pivotal roles played by these distinguished citizens in shaping Ghana’s socio-economic and cultural landscape.
