V/R: Regional Minister assumes office, engages with staff of VRCC
Mr James Gunu assumed office today, Monday, February 3, 2025.
He was sworn in as the new Volta Regional Minister, following his successful vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee.
The swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the Jubilee House on Thursday, January 30, saw Mr Gunu, together with seven other regional ministers and six sector ministers, take the oath of office, administered by President John Dramani Mahama.
The new regional minister James Gunu is expected to champion the development of the Volta region and see to the implementation of government policies in the region, too.
Mr Gunu’s first day at work began with an engagement of the staff of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC). He outlined his vision for the region and received a briefing on ongoing programmes and activities.
The meeting was aimed at familiarising the minister with the current state of affairs in the region, as well as to chart a new course for the development of the region.
The minister will, also, visit the Ghana Water Company Limited treatment plant at Kpeve to have a firsthand assessment of the ongoing repair works on a broken-down shaft, which has resulted in water challenges across the regional capital Ho and its environs.
Mr Gunu's visit to the Kpeve Headworks facility is to demonstrate his commitment to addressing the pressing needs of the people of the Volta Region, and to ensure basic amenities such as water were available to all.
