AMA unveils plans to redevelop Makola Gov't Clinic into four-storey modern facility

The Mayor of Accra, Mr. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has announced plans to transform the Makola Government Clinic into a modern four-storey healthcare facility to better serve traders and market women in the city’s Central Business District (CBD).
The redevelopment, he said, is part of the government’s broader commitment to upgrading key public health infrastructure to meet the demands of a growing urban population.
Speaking on Tuesday during a tour to inspect ongoing and abandoned projects across Accra, the Mayor noted that the current state of the Makola clinic is inadequate for the volume of patients it serves.
“I have observed that the facility is not in a good state.
We will ensure it is redeveloped into a four-storey building equipped to deliver quality healthcare services,” he said.
The Mayor stressed that the upgraded facility will bring essential medical care closer to the thousands of traders and market women in the Makola area, reducing the need for them to travel long distances for treatment
