IGP breaks ground for construction of new ward complex at Police Hospital

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), on Monday, 11th August 2025, broke ground for the construction of a new ward complex at the Police Hospital in Accra.
The facility, when completed, will provide a dedicated and comfortable space for police officers, their families, and retired personnel in need of medical care.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Mr. Yohuno revealed that the idea for the project was born after he visited a colleague on admission and observed the urgent need for more well-equipped accommodation at the hospital.
According to the IGP, the ward complex will serve not only officers currently in active service but also retirees, who often face heightened health challenges and require greater medical support.
It will also cater to the broader police family and, in certain cases, the general public—offering an environment designed to promote healing and comfort.
He explained that the Police Administration is funding the project from its existing resources, but is also appealing to individuals, corporate organisations, and the public to contribute towards its completion.
Mr. Yohuno expressed confidence that the new facility will significantly enhance the health and well-being of police personnel and their dependents.
He urged all well-meaning Ghanaians and institutions to partner with the Police Service in making the ward complex project a reality.
